So, what the heck is a Phantoscope anyway?


Well, it just so happens it was one of the very first film projection systems, and it was invented by Richmond native C. Francis Jenkins.

In fact, the first known public film screening happened here in Richmond, Indiana in 1894.  The film shown was the Butterfly Dance.
