Jessica Lakoff Cannon was raised in Richmond, Indiana, and graduated Richmond High School in 2001. At Purdue University, she graduated in 2005 with a double major in Film Studies and Telecommunications. Lakoff’s interest in a film career was inspired by Larry Blanford, a 1977 Richmond High School graduate, who is a friend of her parents, Tim and Penny Lakoff of Richmond. During college, she spent the summers in Los Angeles first with an internship, then freelancing as a production assistant. After a brief travel stint following graduation, she moved to Los Angeles in 2007. Jess has worked her way up from production assistant to film loader (getting into the IATSE union), 2nd assistant camera, 1st assistant camera, and now camera operator. Some of her credits include: The Muppets, Django Unchained, Hunger Games (Catching Fire, Mockingjay 1 and 2), Crazy Stupid Love, Bombshell, Book Club, Goliath, Snowfall and most recently The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window, Gaslit and High Desert (out this summer on Apple TV). Her husband, Jeremy is also in the camera department- currently on Star Wars. She also has two children, Indy (4.5) and Goldie (22 months).
